KARIMNAGAR: Apart from the curriculum, the Department of Chemistry, SRR Govt. Arts & Science (Autonomous) College, Karimnagar organizes every year student field visits to provide them with real insight into the working procedure of various Companies & industries.

Accordingly, on Thursday (August 11), the students of the Chemistry department visited the Laxsminarasimha granite manufacturing unit at Kamanpur on the outskirts of Karimnagar town. The students were exposed to manufacturing granite including cutting, polishing and marketing the products to the construction sector.

They have realized that Granite is majorly composed of minerals like quartz and feldspar with little amounts of mica, and amphiboles. The colour of Granite depends on its mineral composition.  They have also noticed that water has multiple applications in Granite works. Water is necessary to avoid overheating of tools and to reduce the dust produced in various processes.

In charge Department of Chemistry & Vice-Principal  M Himabindu, faculty members K Bhaskar, G Srinivas, B Mahipal Reddy, B Rajkumar and the students participated in this field visit.

Principal Dr  K.Ramakrishna Appreciated the Department of Chemistry for undertaking such good Activity.
