The Guardians: Reshaping History Virtual Artist Talk and Second Life will be released on Tuesday, November 16th • 6pm, sponsored by The Peale

Join us for a virtual discussion and tour of The Guardians: Reshaping History with lead artists Whitney Frazier and Kirby Griffin. The exhibition is on display at Carroll Mansion, Peale's home away from home during our building's renovation, and includes life-size portraits and audio stories of 13 female changemakers in Baltimore. The image was taken by Kirby Griffin and the interview was conducted by Whitney Frazier.

Whitney Frazier is an interdisciplinary artist, mother, and educator who practices community public art in Baltimore, Maryland. She completed a bachelor's degree in painting, a master's degree in community art, and a master's degree in fine arts at the Maryland College of Art (MICA). Since 2002, Fraser intends to collaborate with different groups to implement community-centric and concept-driven public art projects to build relationships, provide new resources for the community, and realize the common vision of community leaders. Her work breaks the boundaries of "public art" by celebrating the unique culture of each community and the needs of specific locations, and by providing dynamic, bold and creative skills in design, painting, visual narrative, and outdoor venue creation.

Kirby Griffin is a photographer and street photographer from West Baltimore, Maryland. As a child of art, Kirby initially pursued his dream of becoming a performance artist (spoken/acting), and pursued filmmaking in his early twenties, looking for the perfect 0utlet to express himself as a storyteller. In the awakening of the SLR era, he turned his attention to film photography. In 2011, with the help of friend and fellow artist "Gerald Kerr" (also known as "Jay Planner"). Both were motivated outside the academic structure and began to teach themselves the art and craft of filmmaking. They dived into the water, bought their own equipment, and then filmed, directed and edited as much as possible. They have spent countless hours of learning through literature, Youtube tutorials, lectures, the Internet, and a lot of trial and error, which proved to be indispensable.

Whitney and Kirby will talk about how the exhibition and supporting photos were formed.
